Shipping
Typically, but not always, orders less than 125 pounds and no longer than 8 feet will ship either UPS Ground or FedEx Ground. Ground shipments are shipped with “no signature required” if you need to require a signature, please contact us. Orders that weigh more than 125 pounds, or have products longer than 8 feet will ship LTL common carrier freight. LTL orders do require someone to sign for the products and unload the products from the back of the truck. Please note: The trucking company is only required to bring the packages/pallets to the back of the truck, you are responsible for unloading. If you need lift gate service to bring the packages/pallets to the ground you will be charged by FedEx Freight. Please do not get talked into lift gate service, unless you really need it. It is not difficult to pull the products off the back of the truck box by box.
Damage
Please inspect all materials before signing for them. Open the boxes and look at each and every product very carefully. Once you have signed for the shipment, there is no recourse if you discover damage later. The same is true if you are missing any products. It is your responsibility to make sure the number packages (boxes) and or pallets (skids) that you sign for, matches the number on the freight paperwork. Once you sign for it, there is no later recourse, you have accepted all responsibility.
If you do have damaged products, or you are missing packages, all you have to do is make written notes on the freight paperwork before you sign for it. Then we will make a claim with the freight company and reship your replacement materials ASAP.

Depending on the product, orders are shipped via FedEx, UPS or Common Carrier freight lines. Orders with any product over 8′ in length are shipped common carrier freight lines.
PLEASE NOTE: The freight costs shown are estimates based on delivery to a commercial address and may change if the stair material order is shipped to a residential address. We will always contact you if this is the case. You will have the option of canceling your order.
Someone must be at the delivery site to accept common carrier freight deliveries. The truck driver will bring your material to the back of the truck. It is your responsibility to unload off the back of the truck.
The typical time frame for delivery after your products ship is 3-5 business days. In the same breath, please be mindful that when the product ships, we no longer have control of it.
While most red oak and poplar wood stair parts are in stock, other wood species require 2-3 weeks lead time to manufacture. Our iron stair balusters are almost always in stock for quick shipment.
Carefully inspect all material before signing for the receipt of material. If you sign for the shipment and something is damaged or missing, there is no recourse at that point. You must make note on the freight ticket that a box or pallet (often called a skid) is missing, or that specific products are damaged. If the whole shipment looks damaged, just refuse the shipment.
All wood stair products are shipped sanded and unfinished.
Order cancellations and changes are not accepted after order is placed. Please make sure you are ordering the correct material. Your credit card will be charged when you place your order.
Please check with your local building inspector to make sure your project, as you envision it, will pass code.
Stair-Parts.com reserves the right to cancel any orders placed with a price given by mistake either online or verbally.
Stair-Parts.com reserves the right to refuse service to any individual, business or government entity for any reason.
All wood products are not returnable.
All iron baluster returns are assessed a 25% restocking fee. NOTE: freight charges are non-refundable. All returnable products must be returned in their original packaging, in their original condition.
No credit will be issued if a return authorization number is not requested within 60 days from time of shipment. A return authorization number is required to return any returnable product. Products returned without a return authorization number will be refused and returned to you at your expense.
Shipping rates are only valid for the lower 48 States. Orders to be shipped to Alaska, Hawaii, and elsewhere, must be quoted. Shipping rates are are not valid for “Islands” in states that are off the mainland.
