Another finished project! We love how this custom stacked circular stairway turned out! This custom staircase is actually multiple stairways stacked on top of each other, which goes several stories high. It includes a custom bow front starting step and the treads are also all custom winder treads. It also features a wooden handrail which utilizes custom wreath fittings to make the rail one continuous run from the bottom of the stairway to the top. Wood Stair Treads
Wood stair treads are offered in a standard 1-1/32″ finished thickness after surfacing and sanding. Extra thick hardwood stair treads for open rise staircases are available in any thickness. The most popular over sized wood tread sizes are 1-3/4″ and 2″ thick. We have produced treads as thick as 4″. Any stair tread thicker than 1-3/4″ will require face glue lamination(s) to meet the desired finished dimension.

The rounded sides of the top tread of a bowed double end starter step are 14″ wide. The center area of the tread, known as the throat, is 12-1/2″ in the middle (widest part of the bow) The rounded sides adds an additional 11-1/2″ in length to the overall length selected.
